Jamaica is accelerating its energy transition: target 50% renewable generation by 2030; it had already reached 14.7% in 2018. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG): ±120 megawatts (±11%) in operation and +292 megawatts in development.

The Government of Jamaica is prioritizing new tenders for renewable capacity—mainly solar and wind with battery energy storage systems—following the award of ~100 megawatts in 2024. It is also evaluating waste-to-energy and small hydropower initiatives, subject to environmental, contractual, and regulatory feasibility.

Opportunities: renewable generation (solar photovoltaic, wind, hydropower, biomass); fuels and logistics (Liquefied Natural Gas, biodiesel, ethanol); and Energy Service Companies (ESCOs) with performance-based contracts.
